Some of those involved in the recent killing of five people in Beliatta are among the Sri Lankan underworld members who have recently been arrested in Dubai, police said.
Thirteen Sri Lankan underworld figures were arrested in Dubai on 21 February following a nightclub brawl.Police said they have received the photos of those arrested, and they are looking at their criminal records.
“Most criminals leave Sri Lanka using bogus passports under assumed names. So we can’t identify them by name. We are looking at their photos now,” a senior policeman said.The CID is to send a team of officers to Dubai in the coming days to facilitate the extradition of these underworld members.
